This phrase reminds me of Chris Tucker in Rush Hour II. This is Jesus' way of saying "Do-you-understand-the-words-that-are-coming-out-of-my-mouth?!"
Jesus is talking about more than not ignoring him. He is encouraging us to take what he says and apply it to the core of our lives!
God has given us ears to hear... but we must work to develop hearts that listen.
I'll let you read the passage, Mt. 13:36-43, to find out what Jesus was encouraging his disciples to hear.

I am always freaked about by the phrase " whaling and gnashing of teeth." That certainly is not appealing to me! The passage seems pretty strait forward ( good seed, bad seed. Bad seed burned in eternal fire in the end,) but the last line that you describe seems really out of place for me.
ReplyDeleteIs he saying in order to be one of those good seeds and make it to the kingdom you have to listen and hear His word? makes sense, something like we need to use what God has given us to do His will and to fulfill its purpose. Ears hear, eyes see, Heart loves etc...
